Modeling and Design of a Novel 5-DOF AC–DC Hybrid Magnetic Bearing

This paper investigates a novel integrated AC–DC hybrid magnetic bearing (HMB) to reduce the volume, weight, manufacturing, and operation cost of suspension motors. Two radial MBs an axial MB are with proposed HMB. The five-degree-of-freedom (5-DOF) is realized in one unit. axially polarized permanent magnets provide bias fluxes. First, HMB structure mechanism introduced. Second, based on method equivalent circuits, circuits calculated. mathematical models force discussed. Third, main parameters 5-DOF given. 3D finite element (FEM) adopted analyze system’s electromagnetic characteristics, verified. forces versus control current, relationship between current X direction offset, Z offset Based research results, it shown that compact reasonable, correct.
